The illustration below shows two details that are essential for the teak tub to keep its shape and to ensure that the tub remains tight for many years.

003 illustrates the ‘tongue and groove’ system in the side staves. This system not only allows the stave ends to control each other to prevent ‘toothing’, but also keeps the teak tub tight.

002 shows a special keyway system complete with a strong rubber sealant that secures both sides, but not the bottom. This way, when subjected to moisture, the bottom can work as an independent unit, thus preventing leaks.
